There’s something about Tuscany that makes destination weddings feel unforgettable.

Rolling hills, historic villas, and the warm Italian light create the kind of setting couples dream about when planning a wedding abroad.

I recently travelled to Tuscany to photograph a destination wedding for an Ontario couple who chose to bring their photographer along with them — something more couples are doing when they plan weddings overseas.

Their celebration took place at Villa Olimpia, a beautiful private villa surrounded by vineyards and the Tuscan countryside.

Why Bring Your Photographer to a Destination Wedding

When planning a destination wedding, couples often wonder if they should hire a local photographer or bring one they already trust.

Many couples choose to bring their photographer because the relationship is already there. You know their style, you feel comfortable around them, and they understand how you interact as a couple.

That comfort often leads to more natural photos and a more relaxed experience throughout the wedding day.

From Ontario to Tuscany

This wedding was photographed by Mary Zita Payne of Mary Zita Payne Photography, a wedding photographer based in Ontario who travels regularly for destination weddings.

Tuscany offers one of the most incredible backdrops for weddings anywhere in the world — and capturing celebrations like this is always an honour.
