Winter Weddings in Ontario may be cold, but are truly worth considering. Here are a few reasons why!

Winter weddings are often overlooked in favour of the more popular summer and fall seasons, but they are truly worth considering. In fact, winter weddings can be just as magical, if not more so, than their warmer counterparts. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. A Winter Wonderland Setting: Winter weddings offer the opportunity to embrace the beauty of the season. Snow-covered landscapes, twinkling lights, and cozy fireplaces create a magical ambiance that cannot be replicated in any other season. Your wedding photos will be stunning with the contrast of the white snow against the rich colors of your attire and décor.
  2. More Availability and Lower Prices: Because winter is the off-season for weddings, venues and vendors are often more available and willing to negotiate prices. You may be able to get a better deal on everything from the venue rental to the catering to the wedding dress.
  3. Unique Menu Options: Winter weddings offer the chance to serve warm and hearty comfort foods that are perfect for the season. Think soups, stews, and roasted meats, paired with seasonal vegetables and fruits. And let’s not forget the desserts – winter weddings are the perfect excuse to serve decadent hot chocolate, warm apple cider, and spiced cakes.
  4. Cozy Atmosphere: There’s something about winter that just feels cozy. A winter wedding is the perfect opportunity to create a warm and intimate atmosphere, complete with candles, soft blankets, and comfortable seating. Your guests will appreciate the opportunity to snuggle up and enjoy the festivities.
  5. Unique Attire Options: Winter weddings offer the chance to get creative with your attire choices. For the bride, consider a long-sleeved gown or a fur stole to keep warm. For the groom, a velvet jacket or tweed suit will add a touch of sophistication and warmth.

Check out this awesome Winter Wedding I had the honour of capturing.

Brock and Leanne had a small wedding at their home on Stoney Lake, Ontario. It was on a cold but beautiful winter day. The couple had a small guest list with just their close family members and daughter present. The winter vibes and cozy cottage home created a perfect intimate atmosphere for capturing special moments and emotions.

Despite the cold weather, the winter scenery and cozy cottage home provided a stunning backdrop for their photos and created some truly unique and memorable images.

After the ceremony, the couple moved to Farmhill wedding space for the reception. The venue’s decor and lighting created some creative photo opportunities. The couple chose Live Music from JJ and Alyssa which added to the festive atmosphere of the wedding. The Kawartha Lakes is home to a vibrant music scene with many talented local musicians. It was great to see the couple chose to support local artists on their big day.

Overall, the intimate nature of Brock and Leanne’s wedding made for a truly special experience. The beauty of Stoney Lake and the winter landscape provided a stunning backdrop for photos, and the couple’s willingness to brave the cold allowed us to capture some truly unique and memorable images.

If you’re planning a Winter Wedding, keep the Kawartha Lakes area in mind! Don’t let the cold weather stop you. Embrace the beauty of the winter scenery and let your photographer take advantage of the unique photo opportunities that come with the cold weather.
